FOR THE FIRST TIME IN UZBEKISTAN, TASHKENT HOSTED A SOCIAL INNOVATIONS LABORATORY

A meeting under the framework of the Social Innovations Laboratory was held on August 13, 2019, as part of the Partnership for Innovation – P4I program. Approximately 80 activists from Uzbekistan and Central Asia took part in it.

The project organizers are the “ARGO” Association for the Development of Civil Society and the Nationwide Movement “Yuksalish”. Support is provided by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The Social Innovations Laboratory is a platform for research and distribution of innovative methods, tools, and approaches that can achieve significant social effect in NGOs’ activities.

Participants gain knowledge and skills in developing innovative projects, discuss social innovation best practices, and receive expert advice on implementing project ideas.

The social innovation laboratory program includes the introductory topic “What is innovation?”

At the event, participants were divided into two groups, where mentors presented their innovations. Successful examples from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan were also presented at the meeting. At the end of the day, a presentation of project ideas from thematic groups in a pitch format (short presentation) was held. Pitches were then discussed by other participants and mentors.

In terms of the Laboratory outcomes, participants will learn new solutions, involving the public in solving socially significant problems and developing modern social initiatives.
